Robert Broadbent was SVP Melbourne’s inaugural Executive Director 2013-17, a role he undertook on a pro bono basis. He is also the Company Secretary for Social Venture Partners Melbourne Limited and the trustee company for The Social Venture Partners Australia Fund. Robert is a Director with the research and consulting company, MARB Research Pty Ltd. Robert’s early career was in education. He was involved in national education policy development and national initiatives in multicultural and indigenous education and the promotion of women in educational management. Robert’s subsequent career has been related to health professions education, standards, policy and regulation. From 2007 to 2012 he was CEO of the Australian Dental Council. Between 2003 and 2007 he was CEO of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Dental Surgeons and, from 1988 to 2001, he was CEO of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), a specialist medical college. Robert has held roles as Deputy Chair of the Forum of Australian Health Professions Councils and as founding chair of the first toy library for handicapped children in NSW. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Educators and recipient of the Citation of the RANZCP and the Medal of the Australian Dental Council.
