Tony Morgan

Why Tony joined SVP Melbourne.

I was looking for organisations where I could volunteer my skills and experience, having decided to move to a more flexible lifestyle where I could spend more time pursuing my broader interests. My coach from Directioneering made me aware of the social venture world and introduced me to Mark Jenkelson. After discussions with Mark, Wayne Saunders and Rob Heselev I could see that SVP was the organisation I was looking for. SVP’s model of leveraged philanthropy provided an opportunity to become involved as needed in a flexible way. I am very impressed by the organisation and culture of SVP which is open, non-hierarchical with a strong focus on the current and prospective social ventures.  Having come from the commercial world I also see my involvement in SVP as being a great opportunity to learn about the social venture sector.

I have very much enjoyed meeting the people at SVP and I look forward to being a part of the SVP team.

Something nobody knows about Tony.

I was a keen Boy Scout during my teenage years. I think my outdoor experiences in the scouting movement gave me a love for nature and an increased awareness of the environment. To this day I am mesmerised by the beauty of Australia’s old growth forests.

After a 40 career in the finance industry, I am now pursuing opportunities to apply my skills and knowledge in the Social Enterprise sector. My career started with the NAB, working in a wide range of roles including strategy and finance positions in Australia and offshore. I also managed teams in management information and retail banking during my 31 years with this organisation.Ten years ago I moved to the field of project management and I have spent the last six years working for Unisuper, managing a number of technical and business change projects.I have completed a Bachelor of Economics, Graduate Diploma of Accounting and a Diploma of Project Management and I am a member of CPA and AIPM.
